Mark Watches ‘Doctor Who’ Liveblog: Closing Time

Oh. Oh, just wait for the pure joy that is going to be tonight’s episode of Doctor Who. I CANNOT WAIT. Let us all celebrate the livebloggy goodness of this show together!

Like Fringe last night, a wedding is preventing me from actually watching this particular episode of Doctor Who live, but I’ll be there in spirit with y’all. Do this episode right, will you?

This liveblog starts relative to you. So if it is airing on your television, start liveblogging away in the comments. Same for if you happen to be watching it online by less-than-legal means. (Though I would just time it with another time zone so you can comment with other people!) We already do this with Fringe and it works rather nicely. To avoid seeing spoilery comments regarding the episode from past livebloggers, I merely stay on the first page of comments and comment away, only going back after it’s over in order to comment on what other people said.

Sound fine? Just make sure not to post spoilers before this episode airs.

oh god i cannot wait to watch this OH GOD OH GOD

  21. buyn says:

….Longcoat Doc. Hmm. Silence will fall, or Silents will fall. That is the question.

  22. icingflarewhite says:

Offtopic: So I'm guessing since there's only one episode left after this that the question of who killed the Doctor won't be found out until next week?

  23. klutzygal12 says:

    TOMORROW?!?!
    CRAP ON A CRACKER.

  24. vaporeon13204 says:

    BITEY

  34. arctic_hare says:

    I LOVE THIS FUCKING EPISODE

  35. vaporeon13204 says:

    Blue envelopes. Stetson. ;____;

  36. Silla says:

I'm confused…if the Doctor is supposed to die tomorrow, doesn't that either mean that:

    a) it's been like hundreds of years for him since he said goodbye to Amy and Rory last episode
    b) he lied back in ep 1 of this half of the season when he said he was like a 1000 and something

Also, what does something like "tomorrow" mean for a man who travels through time??

  37. arctic_hare says:

Craig, please be his friend and cheer him up and make him stop beating himself up, it's so sad to watch 🙁 give him the hugs I can't

  38. vaporeon13204 says:

    *all the crais forever* ;__;

  39. buyn says:

    Craig. Bless you.

  40. arctic_hare says:

    MIRRORS AGAIN

    AND HE'S CLIMBING DOWN

MAKE THIS EASY FOR ME 😀

  41. buyn says:

DO NOT FEAR. THIS IS A KINDNESS.

  42. buyn says:

    Craiggggg.

  43. klutzygal12 says:

Me want Craigy-poo safe and warm with Stormy.

  44. buyn says:

    USE LOVE… LOVE ALWAYS WORKS.

  45. icingflarewhite says:

Stormy (baby or otherwise, though as a baby would be amusing) for series 7 companion.

  46. buyn says:

    Or is fear stronger?

  47. vaporeon13204 says:

    Riveeeeeeer. D8

  48. WaveMaker989 says:

    GO CRAIG GO!

  49. buyn says:

OF COURSE YOU'RE A DADDY. YOU LOVE ALFIE.

  50. buyn says:

    Ew. Brains.

  51. buyn says:

Yeah. Love. You blew them up with love.

  52. buyn says:

Discount… alskdf;lskdfjdslk so you didn't marry Sophie. 🙁 oh well.

  53. icingflarewhite says:

Oh, Craig, what did you expect?

  54. buyn says:

I thought you were talking about talking to the doctor about marriage. To play along. Oh.

  55. klutzygal12 says:

It seems like the past few weeks have been filled with nothing but complete SADNESS because of this show.
I need to watch The Unicorn and the Wasp, that should cheer me up…

  56. buyn says:

Aww. Doctor tidied up. For once.

  57. buyn says:

Aww. He likes Alfie. And his daddy. aww.

  58. arctic_hare says:

The blue envelopes! D: Doctor, no, don't go!

  59. buyn says:

    …Oh. The invites.

  60. buyn says:

    THE STETSON.

  61. klutzygal12 says:

Envelopes have never been so sad. Neither have stetsons…
The Doctor lives a gazillion years across the universe, five minutes in America and BOOM. He's gone.
    Great.

  62. WaveMaker989 says:

omg, Craig had the envelopes and stetson?

  63. icingflarewhite says:

Oh, he's sending out those letters everyone got way back in episode one. Love the attention to detail on that.

  64. WaveMaker989 says:

XD It said Doctor? What is all of this? Other than awesome.

  65. buyn says:

    JNO. GO AWAY

  66. buyn says:

DON'T YOU DO THAT. GET OUT FROM BEHIND RIVERMELODY.

  67. buyn says:

    …STOP BEING CREEPY.

  68. buyn says:

    NO. GO AWAY.

  69. buyn says:

    NO ME GUSTA.

  70. icingflarewhite says:

    That cliffhanger. Just. WHAT.

  71. klutzygal12 says:

I'm so scared for next week. jfklajfeoncoajeoijvaknfjoejncajofiacjna'jogivano'ajvma'j9034iutj940smakldmvlsa

  80. Spinnaker12 says:

Just started watching Remembrance of the Daleks (7th Doctor) and there's that creepy singing girl's voice. I don't know if that's significant or just a coincidence. Going to try and finish the serial tomorrow.

  81. tehrevel says:

So theories abound just from stuff in this episode,

I'm pretty sure the reason Kovarian wears that eyepatch isn't because she's injured or blind. I'm betting it's a monitor displaying the Silence so she never forgets them.

Also there's another one of those prequels too next weeks episode on the Doctor Who website like the one they did before "A Good Man Goes to War" and "Lets Kill Hitler" that probably won't be in the actual episode.

    • kartikeya200 says:

Brilliant. That would make perfect sense, wouldn't it? She wasn't at all surprised to see them…

    • ldwy says:

That's a really cool theory! And we got a flash in the preview of others wearing it, sot that makes sense!

    • thefireandthehearth says:

Oh cool, someone else had the same thought! Actually, I figured it was a picture of the Silence, but the theory still works. This also fits with something I noticed when I watched the prequel for the next episode… but I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it Sufficient to say, the eyepatches show up again.

    • trash_addict says:

Ohhhhhh! I like that theory a lot.

  82. canyonoflight says:

The ending was rather jarring, tbh. I didn't enjoy this episode as much as I hoped I would.

  83. buyn says:

I've gone back through all of my liveblog comments. Based on your upvotes, you are all sick people for wishing discomfort and fear on me….

    Group hug?

  84. trash_addict says:

Just saw someone on the internet refer to the Petrichor perfume as 'Pondwater'.

  85. Matt says:

If Melody grows up to be River Song, can Stormageddon grow up to be Rory? Please?

  86. Maybe its just me but if River was going to be in the astronaut suit all along I'm not really seeing the purpose of Let's Kill Hitler.

    • To put Hitler in the cupboard.

Also, to mess with our minds.

    • kartikeya200 says:

There's rather a big difference between being manically happy to kill the Doctor because whatevs and why not, and being forced into it after you've already sacrificed quite a bit to save his life and are in the process of trying to, at least a little bit, get your own life going, when OOP SURPRISE EYEPATCH LADY AND SILENTS.

Remember River asking if the suit could move on its own, way back in the Impossible Astronaut?

Plus, this being Moffat, I'm half expecting that helmet to come up and it being someone entirely unexpected in the suit, but who knows.

      • inseriousity. says:

        Agreed. Rule 1: Moffat lies.

In fact the rather blase way on confidental he's like 'yep its the obvious, its river' just convinced me even more he was lying through his teeth and now I sorta hope he is cos it'd be like 'oh he wasnt lying' if it turns out to be true. 😛

    • Minish says:

And also, A Good Man Goes To War/Let's Kill Hitler served the purpose of the origins of Melody Pond/River Song.

A Good Man Goes To War was the birth of Melody Pond and her subsequent kidnapping, and Let's Kill Hitler was the life of Melody/Mels after her brainwashing and reintroduction into society via her parents which served both the purpose of the Ponds raising their child as well as getting her close to the Doctor and her eventual discovery and attempted murder of him, then her conversion.

Thanks for some other informative blog. The place else may I am getting that type of info written in such an ideal manner? I’ve a project that I’m simply now operating on, and I’ve been at the glance out for such information.
