Mark Watches Commissions for the Week of 5/27/13

Hello, watchers! I have a massive installment of commissions for y’all, as I managed to get a whole lot done. Like, a whole lot. So much so that I only have 7 more left after this. I can see the light.

So! Below, you’ll find the links to the streaming/downloads of all the video commissions that I managed to get done in the past week. You’ll notice that these are all Rackspace links. While I will still be archiving videos in my Dropbox, I have been forced to rely on Rackspace to ensure that my files are up 24/7. This is the unfortunate truth: quite a few people ruined this for everyone. As I’m sure you’ve seen, my Dropbox has been going down consistently in the last month. I am allotted 200GB of bandwidth every 24 hours, and based on the logs, a group of people are sitting on my Dropbox and downloading multiple videos multiple times every time it goes live. And we’re not talking about 10 or 15 videos in one sitting. People are downloading 20-25GB at a time for… what? What are you doing with these videos? Why are you downloading the same video four times in a row?

Anyway, I want to make sure that things aren’t going down every day, so I’ll rely on Rackspace, which charges me per GB of bandwidth rather than only allowing me a certain amount. Hopefully, this will solve the issues I’ve been having!

Once I finish the last seven commissions this upcoming week, I’ll be moving on to such much-needed things like:

  1. Catching up on part 2 of series 7 of Doctor Who for the site.
  2. Working on my novel!
  3. Updating/redesigning my store and my sites.
  4. Taking a day off! I’d love to experience one of those sometime. I hear they’re awesome.

Onwards to commissions!

Stargate SG-1

5×21: “Meridian”
Streaming/QuicktimePro Download

In which I take forever to realize that I was actually spoiled for the ending of this, that still doesn’t prepare me for the onslaught of emotions, and then I’m tearing up because how can you do this to me. Honestly, this is one of the best-written character deaths I’ve seen in a long time. It’s respectful of the character, and it didn’t feel exploitative. SO MANY FEELINGS.

6×04: “Frozen”
Streaming/QuicktimePro Download

In which I lose my shit because this episode feels like an homage to The Thing and The X-Files episode “Ice,” except then it takes this huge tonal turn into DID THAT JUST FUCKING HAPPEN OH MY GOD WHAT THE FUCK HOW IS ANY OF THIS POSSIBLE AT ALL.

6×22: “Full Circle”
Streaming/Quicktime Pro Download

OH MY GOD I HAVE COME TO REALLY ENJOY THIS SHOW AND I TOTALLY APPRECIATED DANIEL’S RETURN AND THIS EPISODE IS SO SUSPENSEFUL AND DID YOU JUST FUCKING DO THE THING TO SKAARA BECAUSE I WILL NOT FORGIVE YOU. Oh, lords, this episode is great. AND WHAT AN ENDING. Holy shit!

7×21: “Lost City, Part 1”
Streaming/Quicktime Pro Download

I DID NOT KNOW THIS SHOW WOULD GIVE ME O’NEILL WITH THE ANCIENTS’ KNOWLEDGE IN HIS BRAIN AGAIN, AND IT IS JUST SO BEAUTIFULLY SATISFYING, Y’ALL. Also, I really like Dr. Weir. Also, everyone hangs out with O’Neill and beers and it is beautiful. And Kinsey is so gross, and I hate him, and I wish I knew if he was sucked into a black hole or something. I can’t imagine having to wait a week to see the next part. TOO MUCH.

7×22: “Lost City, Part 2”
Streaming/Quicktime Pro Download

How great is this episode? IT’S REALLY FUCKING GREAT. It’s suspenseful, emotional, and has one hell of a heartbreaking cliffhanger. Oh my god, it’s such a satisfying lead-in to Stargate: Atlantis, too. I CAN’T DEAL WITH THE FINAL SCENE. I can’t.

Stargate: Atlantis

1×01: “Rising, Part 1”
Streaming/Quicktime Pro Download

It’s fascinating to see how quickly this show establishes its own sense of humor and tone that’s very different than Stargate SG-1. It’s in the same fictional universe, but it feels like another take on it. THESE CHARACTERS ARE GREAT! Even the change in the actress portraying Dr. Weir isn’t distracting. That’s how fantastic this is! I love the dread and excitement of exploring Atlantis because holy shit, it’s Atlantis. AND IT’S UNDERWATER.

1×02: “Rising, Part 2”
Streaming/Quicktime Pro Download

YOU SHOULD WATCH THIS SPECIFICALLY FOR ME SQUIRMING RELENTLESSLY DURING ALL THE SCENES WITH THE WRAITH BECAUSE IT IS A MILLION TIMES MORE FRIGHTENING THAN ANYTHING I MANAGED TO SEE IN STARGATE SG-1 OR ON MOST SHOWS EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD AND OH MY GOD THIS EPISODE.

1×03: “Hide and Seek”
Streaming/Quicktime Pro Download

Oh god, why is this show so creepy? Why is Teyla so beautiful? WHY IS EVERYTHING GOING WRONG? Why is McKay so entertaining? The endless joke with his personal shield is fantastic. It’s nice how endearing and enjoyable these characters are when they are all brand new. No one is from SG-1. Plus, you can see how the show is still able to explore the idea of traveling through the Stargate in new ways. After SEVEN YEARS of one show! Amazing.

1×17: “Letters from Pegasus”
Streaming/Quicktime Pro Download

Like “Inauguration,” this was a great way to introduce me to some of the other plots this season, to develop the characters, to adore McKay for being utterly ridiculous, and to make sure I know that hell is coming, and everything is going to be awful. THE WRAITH TERRIFY ME.

Bones

4×05: “The Perfect Pieces in the Purple Pond”
Streaming/Quicktime Pro Download

Is it okay that I just freak out about Zack? Because Zack. I enjoy him so much, and the end of season three is such a… weird thing. Really weird thing. I imagine those who’d been following along were much more disappointed than I was, but still. It’s weird! I don’t have OCD, so I can’t speak to whether this episode does an okay job representing such people. But it was entertaining! And Zack.

4×09: “The Con Man in the Meth Lab”
Streaming/Quicktime Pro Download

JARED BOOTH. Oh my god, I didn’t even know Booth had a brother. I derive much joy from Bones doing things to irritate Booth, so her dating Jared is hilarious and awesome. Oh god, this case is a trip, the subplot with Booth’s relationship with Jared is heart melting, and I really do love this show. IT’S SO GOOD. Seeing Bones angry is scary, by the way.

4×10: “The Passenger in the Oven”
Streaming/Quicktime Pro Download

HOLY SHIT, ONE OF THE BEST EPISODES OF THE WHOLE SHOW. I love murder mysteries that take place in an enclosed space. Putting limitations on Bones makes for some great entertainment, and Caroline and Booth are in top form here. ANGELA AND ROXIE ARE CANON. A canon bisexual on the show. I LOVE ANGELA EVEN MORE NOW. Oh god, then there are the elderly murder fans. BLESS THIS WHOLE EPISODE.

4×14: “The Hero in the Hold”
Streaming/Quicktime Pro Download

AHHHHH, A SEQUEL TO THE GRAVEDIGGER EPISODE, AND IT’S REALLY SCARY, AND I ACTUALLY KNOW WHY BOOTH IS HALLUCINATING, AND HOLY SHIT, THE WRITERS DEAL WITH HODGINS PTSD, AND THIS IS JUST SO GREAT.

5×01: “Harbingers in the Fountain”
Streaming/Quicktime Pro Download

CYNDI LAUPER AND EXPLORATIONS OF FAITH VERSUS SCIENCE, AND CULTS, AND H E L P.

5×05: “A Night at the Bones Museum”
Streaming/Quicktime Pro Download

Whoa, it’s Diedrich Bader. That’s so weird! This show’s constant evaluation of Bones’ and Booth’s relationship is fascinating! Like, I kind of ship the two of them, but then I like them as friends, and then I feel sad that Booth does love her, except does he? Oh god. Anyway, the main plot involving the mummy is one hell of a whodunnit. Shit, I love procedurals so much. It’s probably why I especially love Elementary, which I’m catching up on these days.

5×12: “The Proof in the Pudding”
Streaming/Quicktime Pro Download

Bravo. This episode is INCREDIBLE. It’s a locked room murder mystery that’s also a conspiracy theorists’s nightmare. Seriously, that whole reveal of who the bones might belong to is SO CHILLING. And Booth’s emotional connection to it all is an important aspect of this. But I basically freak out for forty-five minutes because holy shit, this episode.

5×16: “The Parts in the Sum of the Whole”
Streaming/Quicktime Pro Download

This episode is a shipper’s dream and nightmare at the same time. I’ve never seen a retcon work so well, y’all. I mean, technically, that’s what this is, right? Adding an entire chapter of Bones and Booth’s story that happened before the pilot… so yeah. But I like it! I like that it’s both shocking and sensible. It’s a way of moving forward with the relationship between these two in the present. I was shocked that they didn’t pursue a romantic relationship, especially since that’s such a popular trope. Oh god, too many emotions.

I’ll have one last post next week that covers Bomb Girls, three episodes of Samurai Jack, and Tipping the Velvet. ONWARDS.
