Mark Watches ‘Sherlock’ Liveblog: The Reichenbach Fall

I can’t. I can’t really deal with this. I can’t even think of anything to say. We’re not going to be okay.

just can we all be prepared to hold one another. I am here for you. Will you be there for me?

Now, this liveblog is going to be different for everyone, since it’s not airing officially in the United States. Like all liveblogs with relative airings, this liveblog starts when you have access to “The Reichenbach Fall.” Use the comments below as your glorious canvas. In order to avoid spoilers, please try to avoid going back and commenting on comments made on the front page so those of us who are liveblogging can stick to the front page to leave them.

The review (and my own eulogy) will go up on Monday.

god help us all

  1. I haven't even seen it yet but:

Currently researching "How to Survive a Long Fall" but I think I should be researching "How To Survive a Mofftiss Show".

"How to Survive a Long Fall"

Get a big truck full of garbage bags stuffed with excelsior and other materials used in stunt dives to park right where you're going to jump, and jump into it. Then put blood all over your skull and face and jump out and lie down on the sidewalk to fake your death. Funny how that truck full of garbage bags piled high just casually drives away once Sherlock's body is discovered on the pavement. Not what you'd expect the driver to do, is it?

I just went and rewatched the roof scene like ten times and I've come to the conclusion it's honestly one of the most affecting scenes I've ever watched in TV, seen in media period. Fuck, I am never going to recover from this.

    Posting this again because APPROPRIATE.

  5. xpanasonicyouthx says:

I just started it. I already want to cry.

  6. marion says:

Oh, god. I am so not okay after that. Seriously the most draining television experience of my life.

  7. Araniapriime says:

Just finished it. THAT WAS AWESOME. UTTERLY AWESOME.

I called the final shot of the ep before it even started.

    Still: AWESOME.

  8. Dee says:

That was so good and so sad and tragic and painful and wonderful and I can't wait until series 3 omg.

I saw on the twitter that they think it won't be airing until next year. 🙁

  9. Am I the only one finding Moriarty EXTREMELY annoying in this? The part with the throne was funny but now he's going on and on with Sherlock and I want him to shut up so much.

  10. Okay next season can we stop with the whole "Sherlock treats Molly like shit because he doesn't know how to act around woman?" it's getting old.

  11. Sadie says:

    They held hands.

His friends were Lestrade, Mrs. Hudson, and John.

    OHMYGOSH.

    Dying inside.

  12. Elethayn says:

    Blanket for chock (x)
    Cuddly jumper (x)
    Tissues (x)
    Tea (x)

    Let the sob-fest begin.

    (can’t handle all the feelings)

  13. Handcuffs!!

The kink memes are going to have a field day!

  14. OH.

    MY.

    GOD.

    Mycroft what did you do?

    WHAT DID YOU DO MYCROFT!??!?!

( all this could have been prevented if he had a Sassy Gay Friend.. Don't hurt me! )

  15. I'm so confused….oh my head!

  16. "Don't think for a second I'm one of them."

    CHILLS.

  17. okay now this is really too much for me. I have it paused on the video conversation. I knew someone my sophomore year in college who committed suicide and we weren't really close but it was the first time I knew someone who killed themselves and this is kind of hard for me right now.

    ugh.

  18. I was going to do a step by step review and this is all I wrote

    OH GOD WHY

you look sad when you think he can't see you !MOLLY HOOPER SECRET AWESOME!

I think the last bit took away from the drama a little, but Martin Freeman holy hell.

I'm pretty sure I don't have a gif that can possibly express all the feelings I have

  19. Okay so I have a theory.

Molly knows, Sherlock informed her or something and she somehow switched the body and she's going to have to live with this secret that Sherlock is really alive for God knows how long.

Youtube version of latest video from John's blog. (thank you fandom)

    [youtube BnMmAkc1LmM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnMmAkc1LmM youtube]

Which raises the question, if Sherlock was so famous how exactly can he come back without there being a huge fuss from the wider public.

    • @RadagastWiz says:

Don't forget to read the ticker at the bottom! Some excellent in-jokes there.

    • Jade says:

I'd like to point out there was no mention of Moriarty or "Richard Brook" being found dead on the roof. An oversight, or completely intentional? I wouldn't put it past Moriarty to have a way to fake his own suicide, simply to force Sherlock's hand.

  21. FuTeffla says:

    OH GOD SO MANY FEELINGS.

That was a little bit perfect, wasn't it?

Okay, so, I didn't believe Sherlock was dead for one second and I still blubbed my heart out. Poor John. Your sadness makes me sad.

I love that Lestrade got to be king in Moriarty's story. Hail King Greg, silverest of foxes!

I may have put Staying Alive on my mp3 player so I can dance around my room at 3AM pretending to be Moriarty. You can all stop judging me IMMEDIATELY.

  22. Shiroikami says:

One thing was confusing me, so I went and looked it up in case anyone else was curious. Moriarty implies that his alias "Richard Brook" had a meaning behind it. If I'm not mistaken, here's why: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Brook

    • Genny_ says:

They said in the show it was supposed to mirror Reichenbach, I think? Reichen bach = Richard Brook.

      • ferriswheeljunky says:

Yes, it's a sort of Bad Wolf Bay translation, in that the grammar isn't fantastic? But it is true that, in German, 'reich' = 'rich' and 'Bach' = 'small stream'. (I'm pleased to say that I got this reference as soon as Rich Brook was mentioned. I had to stop the programme and do a small happy dance to celebrate keeping up with Sherlock.)

    • Dee says:

The explained it in the show. It was a reference to the job that made Sherlock famous "Reichenbach." Richard Brook. I think it translates to something similar in German.

    • tzikeh says:

It's "Reichenbach" in German. Whoever this Richard Brook is has nothing to do with it.

  23. MeasuringInLove says:

Can I just point out that the reason things turned out the way they did is because Sherlock knew Molly Hooper was important and Moriarty didn't? MOLLY HOOPER YOU ARE THE BEST EVER.

    • Genny_ says:

I LOVE THAT. Someone on Tumblr said that the big mistake Moriarty made was not numbering Molly amongst Sherlock's friends, and I love that this is basically the presumed lynchpin to everything.

  24. Robin says:

    Is it that bad?

  25. tzikeh says:

He has to–everyone has to believe he's dead, or Moriarty's henchmen will kill John. That's why he says to John that he has to tell *everyone he can* that Sherlock was a fraud, and why John has to believe he killed himself.
