Mark Watches ‘Doctor Who’ Liveblog: The Almost People

Hello, Watchers! This week (and next week, for some folks in the US), we tackle part two of this Doctor Who story! Get your keyboards ready for smashing during yet another liveblog!

OK I DON’T CARE I REFUSE TO WAIT UNTIL NEXT WEEK.

god damn it matt smith how are you so perfect.

SO. “The Almost People.” The BBC America has decided not to show this episode because apparently no one watches TV on Memorial Day weekend? Apparently they overestimate how involved I am with this holiday? Whatever, I’ll be at SpectralBovine’s house ILLEGALLY BREAKING LAWS OF SUCH A NATURE. You are welcome to join in this week or, if you must wait until next week, you can join in then!

This liveblog starts relative to you. So if it is airing on your television, start liveblogging away in the comments. Same for if you happen to be watching it online by less-than-legal means. (Though I would just time it with another time zone so you can comment with other people!) We already do this with Fringe and it works rather nicely. To avoid seeing spoilery comments regarding the episode from past livebloggers, I merely stay on the first page of comments and comment away, only going back after it’s over in order to comment on what other people said.

Sound fine? Just make sure not to post spoilers before this episode airs.

20. Kaybee42 says:

WHAT. WHAT JUST HAPPENED. WHAT. WHAT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

21. Openattheclose says:

So was Amy switched when they were at the orphanage in Florida or was it before?

• Kaybee42 says:

I was thinking since the very beginning when they picked her up, but your one makes more sense 🙂

• Openattheclose says:

No, I think it was before. Didn't she see the midwife before she went into the room?

• rumantic says:

She did. Also, she wasn't wearing the red shirt in the orphanage.

• Kaybee42 says:

[pretty big spoilers, that I was slightly peeved at confidential for revealing]
confidential just said she's been a ganger the whole time…

• Openattheclose says:

So was she switched offscreen? It couldn't have been in A Christmas Carol, I don't think she was ever alone.

It has to be real Amy that brought the Doctor back last season, doesn't it?

• Kaybee42 says:

oh man, I'm so freaking confused! I GIVE UP ON WORKING IT ALL OUT. I will just let moffat tell me all… oh thats not gonna work, I can't wait that long! DAMN YOU MOFFAT!

• Openattheclose says:

I just realized, with the shirt she was wearing, it had to be after her and Rory traveled to the US. So maybe it was when she first saw the Silence, right before the Doctor was killed?

• Kaybee42 says:

at the picnic? so she sees the silent, freaks out, the rest of them see it then the silent does some switcharoo, and as soon as the silent is out of sight they carry on their picnic as if nothing happened? that could work…

• Openattheclose says:

What I wouldn't like about that scenario, is that every time we've seen the Silence (that we know of), they have shown us the POV of the people seeing them and then forgetting. I think I would feel a little cheated if all this happened in episode one and they didn't show us just so they could do a big shocking reveal.

• pbellosom says:

That's not necessarily the case, we never saw the Doctor tlling Canton to straighten the bowtie, and there are some who believe that the Silence were heavily involved in The Lodger

• Openattheclose says:

We did see the Doctor telling Canton in the recording though, it just happened in the reverse order from usual. I'm not saying it's not possible that we will get some big reveal of scenes from last season and this season where the Silence were present and we didn't know. I just wouldn't like it if it was that particular scene, because they had already shown us that Amy saw the Silence and forgot. To re-air it and include the Doctor and everyone else seeing them and forgetting when that's not what we saw when it first aired would irk me a little.

• Aimee says:

It was in the warehouse after the shot the kid. She urgently had to tell the Doctor that she was pregnant, and then after they mysteriously somehow got of that whole situation she outright denied she was ever pregnant, and we never found out how they got out of the warehouse anyway.

• shoroko says:

She was also wearing it in Day of the Moon, when she was running from Canton. I think it probably happened in the three months that we didn't see – it seems like a pretty opportune time as we … didn't see it, and that would mean she was the Ganger when she went into the orphanage and saw Eye Patch Lady the first time. The real Amy may have been pregnant when she told the Doctor she was pregnant in Impossible Astronaut, and then was picked up during those three months, so was "all better" (a Ganger) by the time they met again in Day of the Moon.

Or maybe I'm just still hoping for more details about those three months. This is also possible!

• Weston says:

Likely this one. If she was (random number) two or three months along at the time she told the Doctor, spent three months on the run looking for the Silent, gets nabbed and replaced, "rescued" from the Silent, that'd leave three or four months having adventures before this episode and the resulting babbies.

…why were the Silent studying ganger!Amy? Verifying the connection to pregnant!Amy? Did their ultimate plan succeed despite the moon landing and the Silent genocide? And how does this tie into the regenerating girl?

Arrrrg Moffat.

• kartikeya200 says:

My money is either on this, or that weirdo scene when she's alone in the orphanage, the door locks on her, then inexplicably unlocks. She sees eyepatch lady right after that.

It makes sense to snatch her during those months she was off alone, but then why snatch her again?

• Aimee says:

What about in the warehouse after she shot the kid? We never found out what happened after that and The Doctor pretty much didn't expect to get Amy back, like, ever, but then they suddenly seemed to get her back right in the next scene. I thought that was extremely strange but makes sense now.

• I think she had to have been switched before the first episode: she was feeling the contractions from the beginning.

• Aimee says:

No. People get sick sometimes when they encounter the silence, this was established in ep 2. Even River got sick.

• Kiwi says:

Well, she could have actually been pregnant before the start of the series (it was probably just morning sickness) and then got switcharooed in the warehouse (that's my current favourite theory) or at some other point in episode 1 or 2

• Kaybee42 says:

I think the very beginning of TIA was the real Amy- she was wearing different clothes in it. And then at the picnic the doctor (future? ganger? future ganger? future real?) said she'd put on a few pounds, which if he is a future version of either real or ganger doctor then he was probably implying that she was pregnant. maybe?
Anyway, I personally think that at least until the picnic then it was the real Amy, and that the switch either happened at the warehouse, in the three months, or when the silence took her for a few days. (Which is very vague of me. I'm gonna have to work on my theory making.)

EDIT- wait, thinking out loud here. The scanner kept saying pregnant and non pregnant, right? which means that the real amy, off wherever she is, was pregnant and ganger amy wasn't pregnant? (Correct me if I'm wrong, please!) So the ganger would have had to have been made before she got pregnant, presumably in the two months in which the doctor was off on his own?

In which case she would have had to have been switched after the warehouse, as Amy was feeling ill (morning sickness?) and told the doctor she was pregnant, and before eye patch lady first showed up.
So what was the ganger of amy doing in between? i.e. before she got pregnant until at least the warehouse… unless they just scanned her when she wasn't pregnant and the ganger wasn't made/activated until the switch actually happened…

Apologies, spectralbovine, for totally hijacking my reply to you with thinking out loud/confusion/ theory developing!

• DLXian says:

um… if you don’t like spoilers… don’t watch a program that routinely airs them 😛

• Kaybee42 says:

Confidential never do spoilers! They're normally very careful to avoid stuff that could constitute a spoiler, which is generally pretty impressive as it must be difficult. But I see what you mean and in retrospect it's not as huge a deal as I considered it to be when they first said it 🙂

• tehrevel says:

If it makes you feel better it may have been something that in hindsight he feels wasn't communicated in the episode well and won't be touched upon in the next episode and so he explained it in confidential. I remember they showed the deleted scene for Hungry Earth in the confidential because they really felt it should have been in the episode but didnt have enough time.

• bookling says:

I think during the three months in between episodes one and two, when they were all running around America seperately.

• tehrevel says:

Maybe she got switched while being transported from where she got "shot" to the fake Doctor prison at area 51.

I guess people were right about the woman being a midwife.

25. leighzzz31 says:

CAN I JUST SAY: HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I JUST WATCHED. I UNDERSTOOD MAYBE A THIRD OF IT. WORDS FAIL ME.

26. Claire says:

in conclusion: WHAT THE FUCKING HELL JUST HAPPENED JESUS CHRIST MY HEAD OH MY GOD SHIT HAS GOTTEN SO REAL AND I AM NOT FUCKING PREPARED

27. psycicflower says:

THEORIES ABOUND

Unlikely but I thought of it back during The Day of the Moon but I wonder if that device Rory used to listen to Amy will come back into play again.

28. jackiep says:

So after the Doctor spent the epidose establishing that Gangers were validly real, he went and killed Ganger Amy!

• @MSquared110 says:

Ganger Amy wasn't the same as the others though. She was still being "remote controlled".

• Kaybee42 says:

nah they just said on confidential that it was like cutting a telephone wire, and it's been amy's mind the whole time, just not her body. phew!
but yeah I know what you mean! 😛

• illusclaire says:

Nah, he said "in the early stages" – something'll have changed since then. Gangerbody was a conduit for original amybrain, it wasn't a person by itself.

• Vikinhaw says:

My thoughts exactly! Don't you think that's a tad bit hypocritical, Doctor? Maybe justified in that Amy seems to have been remotely controlling her ganger but we saw the discarded Gangers still suffering so what the hell hero?

• @amyalices says:

I think Ganger!Amy was just an extension of unconscious!Amy – I don't think it had time to actually split off into a seperate consciousness, since she was asleep the entire time?

…idk. Guessing at random.

(OMG SHOW.)

29. NB2000 says:

WOOOOAH hold on there Confidential!

"The Flesh Amy has been going through episodes one to six…" with clips from The Impossible Astronaut…WHEN DID AMY GET SWITCHED?! I was assuming it was when she got nabbed by the Silence but..WHAT?!

• Claire says:

I'm going to make a guess and say Episode one, specifically the scene where she finds the pictures of herself with a baby in her arms.

• Openattheclose says:

But I think she saw the midwife in the door before she went in there.

Maybe it was in the White House bathroom.

• NB2000 says:

That was episode two, I thought it was from there too but they just showed a clip of Amy getting off the school bus with Rory from well before that so…I don't know.

• Weston says:

Possibly as long as she's been wearing the plaid shirts.

30. psycicflower says:

I'm watching Confidential and mentally going between how much I love the cast and then thinking about the ending going

• NB2000 says:

These clips of the three of them sitting around chatting has made me want a show of it. Just of them talking about whatever crosses their minds because LOOK AT THEM!

31. chichichimaera says:

Lol, Katren compares companions to hampsters.

32. rumantic says:

My head is still exploding. It hurts 🙁

33. psycicflower says:

There's a promo for the next episode on the BBC website that's available for everyone but there's also a prequel which has been regioned off until someone out there puts it up on youtube.

34. Kaybee42 says:

Did anyone else think the scariest moment was when the ganger doctor (or what we thought was the ganger doctor?) started to look evil? Telling rory to stay then doing that 'ring ring' shizz? it freaked me the hell out- I wanted to sob in fear!

• chichichimaera says:

Evil!Doctor = worse than the Master?

• Kaybee42 says:

yeah! at least the master has an element of over the top-ness making him a bit ridiculous (also simm's doctor is amezzinly sexy!).

• tehrevel says:

The Master is also a bit panto, he'll kill you but he'll talk about it for ages first or spend so much time being a dick that you'll be able to slip away while he's monologuing.

In the words of Terry Prattchett

If you have to look along the shaft of an arrow from the wrong end, if a man has you entirely at his mercy, then hope like hell that man is an evil man. Because the evil like power, power over people, and they want to see you in fear. They want you to know you’re going to die. So they’ll talk. They’ll gloat.

They’ll watch you squirm. They’ll put off the moment of murder like another man will put off a good cigar.
So hope like hell your captor is an evil man. A good man will kill you with hardly a word.

and that's why the few moments where the Doctor is really scary are so effective.

• Marie says:

Wow, which book is that from? A city watch one?

• tehrevel says:

Men At Arms I think. Captain Carrot is the good man being talked about in the quote so yeah it's definitely a Watch one.

• Marie says:

Ha, I'm actually rereading that one right now! And yeah, I thought it sounded like Carrot, turns out it sounds like the doctor too.

• Claire says:

oh god totally. It reminded me a little too much of old!evil!Rory from the Doctor's Wife and that scene left a rotten, sickly feeling in the pit of my stomach for days.

35. kat says:

Just watched the preview for next week's episode. WHAT is going on there???

link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/dw/videos/p00h7m4l

36. Albion19 says:

I guessed that Amy was pregnant somewhere! So the Doctor went there on purpose to see what the gangers were like?

37. ffyona says:

So I totally replied to a post of (I think) spectralbovine's a few days ago and said that Amy was a ganger. I joked that she was a ganger and that's why she's always wearing that red plaid shirt because it's part of her ~fleshy self~.

I never for a second thought that would be true. Totally blindsided by something I'd already joked about. How the hell does Moffat do that?

It's too harsh that THIS is the episode they're delaying in the US.

• HA HA HA YES! I remember that comment! Some people had speculated that she was a ganger, which would explain the pregnant/not pregnant readings, but I still wasn't prepared for how it would go down.

And, seriously, how are the BBCA watchers going to DEAL?

• kartikeya200 says:

I feel all special for guessing. Probably my first time with this kind of thing ever, but I was so convinced it was too ridiculous to be real. WELP.

38. chichichimaera says:

I love all the Confidentials music videos. 😀 😀

39. psycicflower says:

Confidential are using Johnny Cash 'Hurt' for the Doctor being sad about losing people. Angst central.

40. Claire says:

ASDFVGBNHJMKL OH MY GOD I NEVER NOTICED THAT WHAT THE FUCK OMG MIND BLOWN

41. kat says:

Someone uploaded the prequel to Youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIfh_gQJS6s

42. CuriousApe says:

I love the two Doctors! This is amazing.
Different shoes? Why?

• syntheticjesso says:

Because in the first part, Real Doctor's shoes were melted by the acid, so he had to borrow some shoes from someone. Ganger Doctor was using a template from before this, so had the original shoes.

43. CuriousApe says:

"Your comment must be approved…" – Am I on probation? 🙁 Did I do something wrong? It won't happen again! Please don't ban me! I love this site!

• NB2000 says:

That seems to happen at random. I've had comments go to approval a few times for no obvious reasons. Just an IntenseDebate quirk.

• Openattheclose says:

I approved it for you. I think it was the word you used for footwear that did it. It filters out that word because I guess we get a lot of spam that's trying to sell footwear to people. SO, don't worry it wasn't anything you did wrong, just a word you used.

• Kaybee42 says:

Oh dear I just spoke about them swapping shoes and thus said THAT WORD quite a lot and it got sent to moderation. This episode may become quite hard to discuss if we have to avoid talking about which doctor was real or ganger at which point!

• Openattheclose says:

lol, you just used that word again!

This same thing happened during the Doctor Who Movie liveblog because of the same word.

• drippingmercury says:

Wow, an incredibly generic word for footwear sends comments into moderation? This is funnier to me than buzznet moderating every mention of the specialis revelio spell in the MRHP comments.

(I must admit this comment is partly a test to see if specialis revelio is moderation fodder on Intense Debate, too. Sorry if this makes extra work in the moderation queue, I'm just really curious as to whether the aforementioned ~super generic word~ is moderated and ~word containing medication name that starts with C~ is not. Carry on!)

• drippingmercury says:

Guess so. Er, thanks for indulging me, moderators. I guess you'll be prepared for when Mark re-reads Half-Blood Prince?

• echinodermata says:

And it went to moderation, for those who were wondering.

• CuriousApe says:

Ahhhh thank you! This is reassuring. I was really worried that I managed to post a spoiler or something without realising…
And I will do my best to not mention footwear in the near future. 😀

44. anninyn says:

Perhaps. Or perhaps it's canton?

45. Claire says:

OH MY GOD OMG I JUST NOTICED SPOILERS ABOUND

AMY TOLD GANGER!DOC ABOUT THE DOCTOR DYING

BUT GANGER!DOC WAS REAL!DOC

FUCK THIS MEANS HE KNOWS JESUS FUCKING CHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIST

I KNOW

DISRJSDIO;JSDI;MVNL;SDINVIL;SDN

• Kaybee42 says:

See I'm just rewatching and I'm at that part and I think that may actually be the ganger doctor at that point. I don't *think* they've swapped shoes yet.
(However I am ALWAYS wrong. I shall keep watching and try and work on when I think they swapped shoes)
EDIT- Changed my mind now, I think the switch had already taken place and she told original!doctor! which would mean ahhhhhhh!

• CuriousApe says:

Holy shit! I had completely forgotten about that! OH no oh no oh no. This is not good. Not good at all.

• Weston says:

And he references it at the very end.

Ganger!Doctor: "Well, my death arrives, I suppose."

Original!Doctor: "But this one we're not invited to."

Ganger!Doctor: "Pardon?"

Original!Doctor: "Nothing."

46. Hanah_banana says:

FOR THIS I TOTALLY FINALLY GOT MYSELF AN ACCOUNT. EXCEPT THEY WOULDN'T LET ME HAVE MY OLD USERNAME SO I HAVE THIS INSTEAD BUT IT'S STILL Hanah!

OMG OMG OMG WHAT DID I JUST SEE??? I *KNEW* there had to be a reason Amy was wearing the same plaid shirt and had the same hairstyle all series – she's way too snappy a dresser to ever stay the same! When did she get switched though? I thought when she got captured by the Silence, but she saw the midwife before that…I DON'T KNOW BUT I HOPE MOFFAT TELLS ME NEXT WEEK! AND I HOPE RIVER IS HER KID BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE AMAZING, AND I HOPE THAT EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL AND NOTHING HURTS AND OMG THE TRAILER FOR NEXT WEEK'S LOOKS AMAZING I LOVE YOU RORY AND JUST…AMAZING END TO WHAT WAS GENERALLY KIND OF A BORING EPISODE.

• ShayzGirl says:

OMG! Your comment is wonderful! Because I totally agree with everything you say. I don't want anything to hurt and for everything to be beautiful! *internet hug*

• Hanah_banana says:

*internet hug*

THANK YOU! We shall hope for it together! 😀

49. CuriousApe says:

53. Openattheclose says:

Deleting this. Please try not to post images from the promos here, they are considered spoilers for the next episode.

My mum hasn't seen the last three episodes yet, we're going to watch them tonight. I'm going to have so much fun watching her freak the hell out! Muhahahaha.

55. Openattheclose says:

Gonna have to delete this one too. Try not to discuss the previews for the next episode here, some people try to avoid them.

• Kaybee42 says:

I don't watch (or at least TRY not to) the next week trailers, (I say try because on re watches I often forget to stop it before they start and I think "In for a penny, in for a pound!") but I watched the full series trailer and the prequel for the first episode… do you recommend watching the prequel? This is a question for anyone that's seen it or anyone that's purposefully avoiding it.

• tehrevel says:

Yeah sorry thought it was from the PREQUEL and not the preview, the prequels not going to get shown at all on telly and isn't really amazing but it won't spoil anything so it's fine to watch and I would recommend it be watched.

• Openattheclose says:

Without seeing the episode I can't say, because it may have given something away that's not revealed until later in next week's episode, but I can't tell because I haven't actually seen the episode, if that makes any sense. That said, I really like this week's prequel.

• psycicflower says:

It's very much like the other prequels where it doesn't really give that much about the episode away, just sets the scene so I'd say if the other prequels were within your spoiler tolerance level I think you should be okay.

• tehrevel says:

You may be watching the wrong thing, there is a preview of next weeks actual episode that's exactly like the other "Next Time on Doctor Who" bits that shows way too much and sucks. That was where the deleted picture and my comments came from (really sorry about that again).

There is also a prequel which won't be shown on tv. Just like there was for the Impossible Astronaut (it showed Nixon getting a phonecall from the spooky child and an out of focus/blurry Silence watching him slam the phone down) and that wasn't shown on TV at all either and nor were the scenes in the episode. It probably won't be important anyway but thought it needed clarification.

• psycicflower says:

Yes, I know there's a promo and a prequel, like with The Impossible Astronaut and The Curse of the Black Spot. If I'm not mistaken Kaybee42 was asking about the prequel which was what I was talking about
(I reported the image. It's fine, everyone makes the odd mistake.)

56. Minish says:

WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN

57. knut_knut says:

WHAT IS GOING ON I DON'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING
SCANNING? FLESH? AMY? WHAT?
CREEPIEST PREGNANCY EVER NO THANK YOU

58. celestineangel1 says:

So I won't be able to watch this until next week. D: D: D:

But right now I'm watching the marathon, and it's "The Impossible Astronaut" and they've just witnessed the Doctor's death and HEY GUESS WHAT AMY SAYS:

"Maybe he's a clone or a duplicate or something."

Y/Y?????

• who_cares86 says:

Irony is a bitch.

• Kaybee42 says:

aha! so when moffat was all "that man IS the doctor" maybe he was just getting all moral about the gangers on us. Has the moff ever outright lied? I don't recall any particular time. I love you, moffster!

59. CuriousApe says:

And of COURSE the ganger opened its eyes.

60. CuriousApe says:

Ugh wall of eyes. Creepy. Sort of. Sort of narmy, too.

How can they move? HOW?

OMG DID JEN JUST EAT ThAT GUY WHOSE NAME I FORGOT? Swallow him whole? That is… wow. Weird.

61. CuriousApe says:

Rory. If you are going to fake-die again, that's gonna be annoying.

I am confused. What happend? How many Jennifers are there? I shouldn't have replied when that guy IM'ed me. I think I missed too much of this show. Gotta watch it again.

"Join the revolution!" – i like that Jen. She's fun. Sort of homicidal, but oh well.

Oooooh Doctor, nice move! Love how Ganger!Doctor is still completely the Doctor. As opposed to Jen.

62. CuriousApe says:

Strange shapeshifty Jen reminds me of … what was his name? The guy who made that machine that turned him younger.

Still confused, though.

And will these people please stop arguing about who gets to die?

63. CuriousApe says:

Is Amy going into quantum-labour?

haha yeah thank you doctor I'm right. 😀

64. CuriousApe says:

WHAT
IS
GOING
ON

65. CuriousApe says:

Ahaha OMG THE THEORIES WERE RIGHT
ALL OF THEM

This is amazing. And scary.

66. rumantic says:

Watching again now. This time I won't have a toddler jumping on me. First thought – they can't swap shoes straight away, the ganger!Doctor is too busy not coping with the memories of the regenerations. So WHEN DO THEY SWAP??

• psycicflower says:

I think it's not too long after that when they were ducked down behind the wall/circuits/console/whatever they were working on and they both kept popping up and down talking to Amy. Easily could've swapped then.

• rumantic says:

Yeah I just went past that bit. Could have swapped then. Unless it's *after* the bit where Amy tells the doctor he's going to die. It cuts to Rory and the Jennifers at that point.

67. echinodermata says:

The visual of Spock breaking his stoicism and emoting and being OMG is the only thing that I feel fully captures the quantity and scope of ALL THESE FEELINGS.

Doctor Who: breaks even Vulcans' pokerfaces.

(or really, I just like Quinto's face.)

68. rumantic says:

I still hate that bit where he shouts at her 🙁

69. rumantic says:

I love the interaction between ganger!doctor and real!doctor SO MUCH.

Also I'm still confused as to why the real Jennifer dissolves in a flesh-like way.

• rumantic says:

Oh there were 3 Jennifers, I thought so. That makes more sense.

• Kaybee42 says:

I'm presuming you've already seen the whole episode. If not then don't read the rest of my comment.

It's because first ganger jennifer made a second ganger jennifer. I think Rory says it at one point, just after he finds out that ganger jennifer is a ganger.
edit- Oh you've already worked it out! Oops!

70. rumantic says:

Hey, this is the second time we've seen an alternate version of the doctor tell Amy to trust the real/current version.

71. echinodermata says:

A number of comments got caught in the spam filter. Presumably because of a lot of keysmashes. I’m gonna approve some of them, so random comments might start popping up.

72. rumantic says:

Hehe the doctor has a really high-pitched scream!

73. rumantic says:

Lol at Amy's "Oh, you" reaction to Rory when he just nearly killed them all :/

74. luvuna says:

WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT THE EFF JUST HAPPENED OH MY GOD AFHLSFHLSKDJFLKSJ THE DOCTOR JUST DISSOLVED AMY BUT NOT REALLY AND HOW LONG HAS SHE NOT BEEN AMY AND WHAT IS GOING ON AND HOW IS SHE PREGNANT I MEAN OKAY NOT HOW BECAUSE I KNOW HOW THAT WORKS BUT REALLY AND HOW LONG HAS SHE BEEN GONE AND WHO IS THAT WOMAN AND WHY IS EVERYTHING SO CREEPY AND I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT JUST HAPPENED

*takes deep, calming breaths*

DGFASKJFHLSKJHFLUAHFKJSDBFLKSADGFLSKUGFLKJASDHFKJLASHL

75. rumantic says:

The labour sequence starts just 3 minutes 20 seconds before the end of the episode. It feels so much longer!

76. bookling says:

Yeah, that freaked me out. Is it because he'd figured out she was a ganger at that point?

• rumantic says:

I have no idea. When I first watched it I thought he was just really angry that she had told him his future, but then he started ranting about the eyes. I've watched it twice now and it still seems really out of character that he would take that out on Amy. Unless maybe he was angry with her, and then the eye thing came right then and pushed the thought out of his mind, but he was still angry with her so he ranted at her about that instead? I don't know. I just didn't like that scene.

• drippingmercury says:

Here's my idea: Since Original!Doctor and Ganger!Doctor had traded places, Amy was telling the Original about the Doctor's death. During this conversation, the Ganger in the other room had the whole eye/why realization… thingy… and had to play it cool as "Original". Their mutual telepathic abilities let Original Doctor know that he needs to act out his "Ganger Anger" (did I really just type that?) with Amy. This allows him to further sass out the ganger experience by noting her reaction and also gives him a convenient way to avoid further discussion of his future death/space-time imperiling spoilers.

I'm not sure if that made sense, really, since I'm still trying to scoop my brain back into head.

77. Cazzle says:

JESUS FECKING CHRIST. I genuinely feel a little bit sick after that ending. Thanks for hitting my nightmare fuel, Moff!

78. Kaybee42 says:

Spoilers for this episode. Thought I should warn in case any one liveblogging it sees this comment.
okay. eye patch lady is a midwife. For the silence? for someone anyway…
she said in TIA: "No, I think she's just dreaming"
So, does that mean she doesn't know Amy is controlling a ganger of herself? what would that mean? That the doctor or someone else who is friendly set up the whole ganger of amy situation?

79. Alan713ch says:

Oh my god that was HOLY SHIT GANGERAMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's all I can say now.
