Hello watchers! Let’s get down to details.

There will be a slight lull in activity until I get things settled on the Reads site, but the very first true review will go up tomorrow: Mark Watches Deathly Hallows, Part I. Don’t you guys feel lucky? YOU GET THE FIRST REVIEW.

Anyway, like the post I just made over on Mark Reads, here are the details about registration, commenting, and scheduling. Discuss!

When I was doing research back in September for where I was going to move to (YES, I HAVE BEEN HOLDING THIS IN FOR TWO FUCKING MONTHS), I settled on WordPress because I was familiar with their posting system and I knew I’d ultimately be able to have a custom template built that best suited what I wanted to do. That being said, the way to register or subscribe to this site is a tad confusing. So here are your options:

1) Register for this blog as a member/user. Over on the right side, under “Meta,” click Register. This will create a UNIQUE LOGIN FOR THIS WORDPRESS BLOG ONLY. This is why you can’t use it across the board.

2) Enter your general WordPress account info in the comments to “login.” If you already have a WordPress account, you can comment.

3) Register for an IntenseDebate account. And they are pretty nifty, because you can use it all over the web and it tracks where you left all your comments so that it is easy to see if anyone replied to you.

4) Enter your nickname, email, and optional site. This way doesn’t subscribe you in any way and also is 100% temporary.

I’ve also removed the limit on having a moderator approve your first comment before it shows up. It’s already too much work and I can’t imagine how bad it would be during a live blog. Yikes!

Make sense? I’m not turning on Facebook registration because Facebook already creeps me out and I’d like to avoid using them.

Onwards we go!

GIFs, JPGs, PNGs, etc in comments.

They are now live. You MUST use your own hosting, as you can no longer host them in the comments. I’m going to look into a CSS hack that might allow you to upload to my hosting that I bought, but for the time being, you’ll have to use the < img src=”URL HERE” > code. And remove the spaces around the brackets.

I EXPECT MANY GIFS IN THE COMMENTS. Since it’s paginated better and you can actually close all the comments, the page should load better.

Tomorrow, I’ll post my review for Deathly Hallows and will most likely spend next week prepping/reviewing for Mark Reads and dealing with the Thanksgiving holiday. I hope to have my first review for Firefly up on Monday, November 29th. And while I figure out how to balance multiple sets of reviews, it may be a bit choppy over here. 🙂

I’ll also ask if you guys want a @markreadswatches Twitter account for notifications and such! Does it sound like something you’d be interested in?

I ALREADY DID IT. Follow me: @MarkDoesStuff

I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU TO WATCH THIS. I have sat around with friends discussing for hours which episodes of Firefly are our favorite and why, and why it didn't do better, and how much we wish we could get MORE. This will be exciting.

  2. lindseytinsey says:

Dammit…. I only get to see HP7 part 1 next week. So will have to steer clear from this site til then 🙁

  3. karate0kat says:

I have the perfect gif to celebrate not only the Deathly Hallows news, but this whole site, since I just learned of its existence today. Sadly, I am at work, and since I just made said gif yesterday, I do not have it uploaded anywhere yet. I will most likely return to post it after I'm home.

In the meantime, I will use my Taking 5 gifs to celebrate instead.

WEEEEEEEEEEEE SO exciting! I'm really happy for you, Mark, that this whole thing has been such a success for you! BUT BUT BUT is there still going to be an AVPM/AVPS liveblog? Because there for real needs to be.

  5. aficat says:

So excite for Firefly! They have all the episodes up at Hulu, so we can watch along with you!

  6. sageofmudora says:

This page has less traffic than MR. Are we calling these MR and MW? those work for me 🙂

I linked to both of these sites on my blog 🙂

I've never seen Firefly, but I'm excited to see a new series! Excitement!!!

  7. aficat says:

Wait, can I post non-spoilery pics already?

“As far as Firefly is concerned, that will always be unfinished business. Serenity was a Band-Aid on a sucking flesh wound. I think every day about the scenes that I’ll never get to shoot and how badass they were. It’s nice to know that people still care about Firefly but it’s actual grief that I feel. It’s not something you get over, it’s just something you learn to live with.”

    /so much love

Man, I am going to have to refrain from reading your Mark Watches Deathly Hallows post for at least a week, which will be EXTREMELY HARD!!! I hope you have the most awesome time EVER tonight at the midnight premiere, I wish I were going. Unfortunately I have to work early tomorrow, and I promised my mom and sister I would wait to go with them to watch it.

So, enjoy the movie and the atmosphere with all the other Potter fans out there, and FANBOY AS YOU HAVE NEVER FANBOYED BEFORE!!!! Carry on.

  9. Steph says:

Jeezy Creezy this is all so very exciting. As a Potter and Whedon fangirl I just about flipped my shit when I read this. I hope you enjoy both Deathly Hallows and Firefly/Serenity! BOTH ARE AMAZING!

  10. xpanasonicyouthx says:

TRY GIFS AGAIN. I forgot to turn them on!!

  11. xpanasonicyouthx says:

  12. EofS says:

Yaaaay! Now I can go and nuke buzznet from my Facebook app settings, allowing me to revert to my usual “block all applications” setting.

Plus allowing me to interact under my actual internet identity instead of having to use my meatspace one. A win on all levels, thanks Mark!

  13. Wolfmane says:

  14. StarGirlAlice says:

OMG Just read that you're doing AVPM/AVPS!! Epic win! I love them!
Also, while you're going for StarKid productions, try Me and My Dick.

  16. elvyralani says:

Will you be posting the A Very Potter Musical/Sequel stuff here???
    And when will that be?
    -excited for that and Firefly-

Also, Castle had another Firefly mention last week!

    Hi Mark!

  19. Starsea28 says:

Hopefully my icon will show up now…

  20. Anseflans says:

I don't know where else to ask this: But have you already watched A Very Potter Musical/Sequel? And if not, are you planning on doing so soon? 🙂
