Hello, Watchers! Let us all gather ’round our television sets or our computers to witness the fifth episode of the sixth series of Doctor Who. Now this particular episode, titled “The Rebel Flesh,” is about something! And has characters! And that is all I know! So get your live blogging fingers ready!
I am just excited to see this rather fine shirt/bow tie combo myself.
This liveblog starts relative to you. So if it is airing on your television, start liveblogging away in the comments. Same for if you happen to be watching it online by less-than-legal means. (Though I would just time it with another time zone so you can comment with other people!) We already do this with Fringe and it works rather nicely. To avoid seeing spoilery comments regarding the episode from past livebloggers, I merely stay on the first page of comments and comment away, only going back after it’s over in order to comment on what other people said.
Sound fine? Just make sure not to post spoilers before this episode airs.
Enjoy!

Yay! I was getting worried it'd be another mysteriously eaten post again.
YOU GUYS, I AM IN THE UK THIS WEEK AND STOKED TO BE WATCHING LIVE AND WITHOUT THE STUPID BBC AMERICA INTRO. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
;is jealous;
I'm in a house with BBC 1 so I actually get to do the liveblog this week. So excite!
I am worried that this episode is going to be disappointing after last week's perfection!
SO EXCITE!
I probably won't be able to watch it live on BBC so I'll watch on iplayer sometime this evening I think. 😀
What's different about the American intro? I've heard people talk about it but how is it different
There's this little bit with scenes from The Eleventh Hour (and some of the rest of the first series?) with Amy narrating about how
"When I was a little girl, I had an imaginary friend, and when I grew up, he came back. He’s called ‘the Doctor.’ He comes from somewhere else. He’s got a box called ‘the TARDIS’ that’s bigger on the inside and can travel anywhere in time and space. I ran away with him, and we’ve been running ever since."
I can't find a youtube clip of it, argh.
Wow, I'd never heard of this before. I can imagine that getting pretty annoying.
Like the SJA intro on every episode since series 3. "…Home to things way beyond your imagination…"
It's okay – I just wish they would have written it better. It makes the show sound like Amy's traveling with her imaginary friend and none of it's real. -_-'
Not nearly as elegant as a classic TARDIS flying through the sky, by the sound of it.
But then, I guess Doctor Who isn't common knowledge in the US, so they need to explain the premise to new viewers.
It still has the TARDIS flying through the void and credits and normal stuff, just this in addition.
Since some people were talking about how awesome it would be if Luna travelled with the Doctor here's a photoshop.

You, sir or madam, are awesome. <3
I have my moments.
Fifth episode already… I think it seemed like less because I had momentarily wiped The Black Spot from my mind…
15 MINUTES!!!
<img src="http://i56.tinypic.com/2dqj9fl.gif" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic">
15(ish) minutes to go!
I think so you think you can dance is slightly more creepy than don't scare the hare.
Wait… that's… Captain Jack!
Off topic but I need that dancer's blue swishy dress on BBC right now in my life.
What is that sparkly plastic headpiece she's wearing though
Yeah, I thought her hair was pink until they did the close up there.
Is it just me or do John Barrowman's eyes look a lot bluer these days?
I think it's the grey suit he's wearing that's doing it.
Nah I noticed it in the miracle day promo photo too.
Yay five minutes. Bring on The Rebel Flesh:

LOL, nice one! XD
I see what you did there.
BAFTAs! I am excite to see how Doctor Who and Sherlock do.
Woohoo starting!
Here we go!
Impressive city
I'M SURE ALL THREE OF THESE FINE PEOPLE WILL SURVIVE TO THE END OF THE EPISODE
LOL
Nice outfits! Remind me not to wear that rig, ever?
I'm loving the music this series so much. I wonder if they'll release split soundtracks or wait till the end of the complete series for the CDs.
That's- a remarkably pragmatic approach to death.
And he's back.
Seeing Astronaut costumes on Doctor Who makes me a little nervous these days.
Me too.
'I've seen the holos. Accident in the workplace?' – Love it.
Love the sympathetic workmates. Good sign to change job!
Darts and Muse!
Black Holes? Really? Lolz.
I'm liking this so far. Good use of Yorkshire accents, too- always the accent they big when they want someone to be pragmatically, phlegmatically working class.
The Dr listens to Muse. Who knew?
DOCTOR WHO AND MUSE, ALL MY FAVOURITE THINGS AT ONCE <DIES>
…guys this is the TARDIS not a pub!
I want fish and chips!
Oooh, modern music in the TARDIS. I like seeing Rory and Amy make the TARDIS their home with the music and dart board.
Saved by the alarm, heh.
Muse?MUSE?ON DOCTOR WHO? OMG…*DEAD*
Love the Doctor turning the Tardis into a pub for Amy and Rory!
That's it, someone sit the costume designer down for a plaid intervention! EVERY. FREAKING. EPISODE Amy's worn one.
Maybe AMy just really likes checks? Or- maybe it's a plot thing?
Not sure if this counts as a theory or not so I'll put a warning up just in case
With all the Amy keeps wearing checked shirts comments, I just looked back through the episode screenshots, and she's not only wearing a checked shirt in every single episode, but the exact same one, every single episode this series. Now that IS weird, especially considering her multitude of outfits last series. All the other recurring characters are changing clothes each episode – Mark even commented on the Doctor's outfit in this blog post (and I think this is the Doctor's most noticeable shirt/bow tie change – last series he only changed the tie, I think?) – are they trying to highlight Amy's lack of clothing changes with that?
It's been broken up a little by the fact she was wearing the pirate coat in EP3, and the first two were a two-parter, which is why I never noticed before now. But yeah :/
She put the pirate coat on over her normal clothes, though
So it is the same one? Is it the same one she was wearing in the Time/Space Comic Relief bits? Cos that's when she was first wearing plaid. In the beginning of The Impossible Astronaut she was wearing a blue one, but ever since then, it's been the red one. And it bugs me.
lol At this point I'm going to be sincerely surprised if someone in-show doesn't comment/joke about it.
Season long in-jokes. Rory will die, and Amy will wear plaid. The Doctor will…scan Amy? Say something hysterical at the worst possible moment? Who knows!
Um. Plz don't be crashing into the planet….
I want fish and chips 😕
:/
Ha! Ha! Yes Dusty Springfield wasn't around in the middle ages!
Of course he has a snowglobe in his pocket.
Where else?
'No, cause I can hear Dusty Springfield'.
Rory gets the best lines. Probably to make up for being killed so often.
13th century monastery and the history/cultural institutes geek in me is happy
'Satisfy our rabid curiosity'. Moto of the series.
I recognise that castle. I think I may have been there at some point.
It's gorgeous where ever it is.
Yeah, me too…it does seem familiar doesn't it?
I've been to three of the six castles this was filmed at. I'm a dork.
unf eleven
Set design plus music = pretty. I like.
So is 'the Flesh' like Autons 2.0 or purely going to be clones.
I thought they were going to be Autons going off the preview! I am disappoint.
I love the Autons as well. (Terror of the Autons was the first Classis Doctor Who I ever watched.)
The Flesh 'fully programmable matter'. Because making something like that is a BRILLIANT idea, and naming it something creepy like 'The Flesh' just makes it even better.
Sounds like a pleasant work place.
Calling it now: The flesh has become sentient and is wanting freedom.
What did I say? You saw me say it.
Psychic abilities of a Time Lord + living ooze… that seems like a bad combination.
Seriously, I was like "Doctor, dammit, don't poke it! NO REALLY DON'T POKE IT."
Well, that's not creepy at. alllll.
'The Miracle of life'
'No need to get fancy, it's just gunge'.
Which is how the miracle of life started, after all, so they're messing with something big. I feel I am going to enjoy this; but I think it;s going to be disappointing in comparison to last week.
Well, bets on her being the first to suffer a horrible acidy death?
Prettyful.
I'm reminded of the sentient sun in ten's run. This time it's sentient gunge that doesn't like you controlling it.
AW CRAP NOT THE TARDIS
FFFFFFFUUUUUCK I hope the TARDIS is acid proof…
That better not do anything to the TARDIS!
Acid getting TARDIS! NO! TARDIS!
Well that can't be good
Doctor when will you learn not to climb things.
…For a moment there, I thought Rory (and Amy) were dead agaaaain.
"A lot can go wrong in an hour": the entire show summed up in one sentence.
Surely being knocked unconscious by solar flares can't be good for Schrödinger's baby.
*snort*
How very Frankensteinian!
That freaked out woman is probably a ganger
Ha! I knew it
Interesting dilemma. All the memories and personalities but does it make them 'real'. Reminds me of a few SG-1 episodes.
Reminds me of Dark City. :3
She's totally a ganger isn't she…
Lol, confirmed.
Whoa, what the shit… X_X
RORY RUN!
Snake neck…I ….ROFL sorry but that's just hilarious
creepy dodgy faces. dislike.
"Always with the Rory!"
Isn't it though…
'Always with the Rory'
Truer words Doctor, truer words.
Is Rory going to die again? It would be kind of hilarious if he did.
Given this series so far I'd take the odds.
NOT THIS TIME! Surprised. There's still next week, though.
TARDIS is going to be missing isn't it?
"I'm a great parker"
Lies!
Nooooo creepy ganger lady DON'T HIT ON RORY
It would interesting if they touched on some of the real!Rory vs Plasic!Rory stuff at some point.
That's what I thought one of the underlying themes of this episode was, especially with how sympathetic Rory is towards the ganger…it will be interesting to see how they flesh it out (hahaha pun INTENDED!).
Definitely. The man was plastic for two thousand years. These fleshy things have been people for about an hour. Roranicus will become their leader, and they will rise to… do… things.
Hopefully not enslave humanity, because that'd get kinda awkward.
oh, poor Ganger!Jennifer.
The woman playing Jennifer is fantastic!
You just can't resist a big vat of stuff can you Doctor?
I like how they get more 'human' the more worked up and emotional they get. This is quite a thought-provoking episode.
He talks to the TARDIS more now. Nice.
I think an earlier comment of mine got eaten, but it speculated early Nestene Conciousness/Loom technology.
By "early technology" I thought the Doctor was referring to "The Flesh" in New Earth.
That's what i thought too.
Oh, we're those the ones they were giving all the diseases too? I hadn't realised they had the same name – good catch!
Oh god, is there going to be a Ganger Doctor?
What are you doing down there? For some reason so funny to me
Trust me…. *crosses fingers for Doctor!Clone.*
Aw Rory, I love you and your empathy.
Rory and Jennifer's sudden connection seems forced and weird.
He's just sympathetic because he knows what it is to be a clone/fake person.
Ah of course! That would make sense. Thanks.
EYE PATCH LADY!!!!
Creepy eyepatch lady i've missed you!
Sympathetic Rory understands what it to be made out of plastic.
Ewwwwwwwwww Exorcist head turn!
Because twisting heads are always so much fun.
Hungry Earth redux, anyone?
Hey, the Doctor likes being on football teams. And who doesn't love a good campfire.
DARNIT IS THE EVIL FEMALE CHARACTER GOING TO COCK EVERYTHING UP JUST LIKE IN THE SILURIAN EPISODES.
OMG DOCTOR UR FAKE ACCENT. XD
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Doctor <3
hah the accent. Decent attempt.
