Many thanks to Merrick, who commissioned this video from me, because I would have not even remembered that this was a\u00c2\u00a0thing that existed. OH MY GOD, THE UNAIRED\u00c2\u00a0<em>BUFFY\u00c2\u00a0<\/em>PILOT OH MY GOD.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->First things first: You can watch the\u00c2\u00a0<em>Buffy<\/em> pilot yourself!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WR3J-v7QXXw\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>And then you can watch my reaction to it as well:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/54202764?badge=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I HAD NO IDEA THAT WILLOW WAS ONCE PLAYED BY A DIFFERENT ACTRESS! It&#8217;s weird seeing someone other than Alyson Hannigan just because I&#8217;m so used to her. There are a few things different, obviously, but I think Willow&#8217;s characterization in this pilot is far less nervous and giddy than what Alyson did with the character. Xander, Buffy, Cordelia, Giles, and Harmony are all pretty spot on. Oh god, Sarah Michelle Gellar, YOU WERE SO GOOD AT PLAYING BUFFY. Did Whedon think that initially, Darla wouldn&#8217;t play a bigger role? She looks like she was killed off at the end. Also, there&#8217;s no Angel in the pilot, either. Was he an invention after this was made?<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, you should watch this if you haven&#8217;t seen it. I actually think it&#8217;s a good pilot! Dated as hell, sure, but that&#8217;s part of the charm of watching\u00c2\u00a0<em>Buffy<\/em> anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow, I&#8217;ll have a post up for\u00c2\u00a0<em>Commentary!
