MURRICA. So I&#8217;m really in a rush, but I wanted to get something up.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>First of all, THIS MADE ME SO SAD.\u00c2\u00a0<em>SO SAD<\/em>. Like, the one moment in this whole episode that truly stands out to me is when Claudius finds out Herod died. Who does he have left? Pallas and Narcissus\u00c2\u00a0<em>do<\/em> support the man, but he just lost his last true friend, and it is EARTH-SHATTERING in its sadness. Granted, this episode is\u00c2\u00a0<em>just as disturbing as all the others<\/em>, but more for its depiction of a man broken by his attempt to do\u00c2\u00a0<em>good<\/em>. That&#8217;s what is so frustrating! The man\u00c2\u00a0<em>tried<\/em>, was betrayed (as Herod said he would be) and is probably going to die alone. UGH.<\/li>\n<li>So much of\u00c2\u00a0<em>I, Claudius<\/em> has been a depiction of how the intersection of power and ambition RUINS ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING, and that&#8217;s certainly the case for Messalina and Silius. Lord, what a downfall.<\/li>\n<li>My god, Messalina actually believed that Claudius would\u00c2\u00a0<em>never<\/em> have her executed. She honestly thought that she could manipulate him until the end. Granted, he drunkenly signed those execution orders, so it&#8217;s not like he gleefully put Messalina and Silius to death, but STILL.<\/li>\n<li>He was made a god on the day he found out he outlived everyone he cared about.
